Reporting to the Design and Development Director.

What you will do:

  • Work closely with our sales and technical support teams to understand the needs of our customers and provide solutions that exceed expectation
  • Adapting our standard products 
  • Monitor and investigate new techniques, technologies, standards, products and manufacturing
  • Delivering well-considered design solutions, on time and budget
  • Line manager of two people 

Who you are:

  • Experience in, and a good understanding of, exterior lighting product design and the challenges therein
  • Knowledgable in the leading LED optics and lighting component suppliers 
  • Strong electrical knowledge 
  • Customer and operations focussed. Your design solutions will be innovative, on-brief and designed with ease of manufacture in mind
  • Innovative and a problem-solver
  • A clear and confident communicator, you'll have excellent verbal and written skills and an eye for detail
  • Exceptional 3D CAD modeller and 2D drawing 
  • Experienced with simulation software (ideally Solidworks)

Reporting to the Garda Business Unit Manager 

What you will do:

  • Production of general arrangement drawings for approval, part drawings for manufacture and production of bills of material as required
  • Work closely with the project managers to deliver high-quality designs and to strengthen and improve service levels; enabling the growth of the business unit
  • Responsible for interpreting and implementing details provided by the structural/electrical engineers
  • Highlight potential project risks and changes to scope or specification
  • Recommend changes to existing products and equipment to improve specifications, reduce cost and improve manufacturing methods

Who you are: 

  • A multi-tasker who meet deadlines and works well within a team
  • Proven work experience as a CAD Engineer or similar role for a minimum of 3 years
  • Fully conversant in AutoCAD
  • Familiarity of Solidworks or Tekla highly desirable
  • Good literacy and communication skills
  • BSc / BA / HND in Engineering, or mechanical design or equivalent experience
  • Ideally previous experience within handrails or balustrading or similar
