What is an Elexon Charge Code?

A charge code is a unique 13 digit reference number that is required when any new equipment is connected to an unmetered power supply. It provides basic information on what the equipment is and, more importantly, how much energy it consumes during operation. A typical example: 42 0105 0000 100

Items of electrical equipment installed on the public highway are not normally connected to a metered supply and so we have the UMSUG (UnMetered Supply User Group) charge codes to allocate correct energy usage to each item of electrical equipment, based on its geographical location and hours of operation.

We have a number of charge codes for our new ranges of LED luminaires and are in the process of adding additional versions.

Standard lamp products do not need a manufacturer specific charge code and instead use a generic charge code generated by Elexon.

If there is a code not currently shown on this list which is required, it may be that we are working on it. Please contact us if you have any more specific questions regarding charge codes.
