DW Windsor has led two innovation projects which have been part funded by the Department for Transport and delivered through a competition run by Innovate UK:

#1 Accelerating Innovation in Rail 4

Consortium partners: DW Windsor, Urban Control, the University of Nottingham and RSSB 

Dynamic lighting to improve passenger flow at stations and platforms. With support from FirstGroup, we have installed and tested new lighting at GWR’s Chippenham Station to improve boarding and alighting of trains on the platform and improved passenger flow on staircases.

#2 First of a Kind

Consortium partners: DW Windsor, Urban Control, Digital Rail and First Group 

Dynamic platform lights with a vision system to create personalised accessibility for wayfinding at stations (PAWS). We have installed a system at Chippenham Station that can identify customers who need assistance or, whom should use the lift as they have a heavy bag, buggy or bike.
