Charles Smith & Associates were looking for a modern, interesting lighting solution which was not solely reliant on standard street lighting. Lighting was to be controlled by landlord supply, therefore ease of installation and on-going maintenance was a must. The facades of the building and surrounding architecture also had to be taken into consideration; lighting had to be modern but sympathetic to the ‘café society’ development.

DW Windsor found the answer with its Vertica accent luminaire, creating an attractive night time environment and its Aventis bulkhead; where more functional lighting was required. Its Strand luminaire fitted the brief perfectly, being considerate to the more conventional building style and with a performance that could match the very latest modern designs. The scheme was finished with car park lighting using DW Windsor’s Stratum luminaire which provided excellent uniform lighting.

The award-winning Liberty Square and vibrant heart of Kings Hill, has since been voted the best new shopping centre in Kent, serving over the 8,500 people that live there.
