3p Technology

Breaking the mould

Bollards are often used to mark boundaries between roads and paths and are therefore susceptible to damage by vehicles. Our unique 3p Technology® system provides an alternative to permanent installation which enables simple, inexpensive repair should a bollard be hit. It also allows the bollards to be removed if necessary for other purposes, for example, to allow vehicles to access a normally pedestrianised space for special event such as an annual fair or concert.

The 3p Technology® system is also applicable to our Avant and Bora benches.

The system comprises a ground socket which is buried with its upper surface flush with the ground, the bollard and a junction piece which is designed with a breaking point. A special clamping bolt set completes the assembly.

When a bollard with a conventional root is struck by a vehicle, either the bollard or the ground around the bollard (paving etc.) would be damaged. With 3p Technology®, the junction piece will break leaving the ground and bollard fully intact. The junction piece can then be easily and economically replaced in minutes ensuring that the bollard is again performing its desired function and at little rectification cost.

An optional retaining bar prevents the bollard from rolling away from the socket after impact.
